Collecting Reviews

    How on-site review collection works

This is the heart of SyncReviews: capture a real review at the one moment that converts, right when the job is done and the customer is happy. Your customer scans a QR code, and the review page opens in their phone browser. No app, no account, nothing to install.

The customer leaves a star rating and either a short video or a written review, adds their name and email, and taps submit. The review lands in your dashboard and waits for your approval before it appears anywhere. Start to finish, it takes about a minute.

There is nothing for your customer to download. The whole flow is a normal web page that works on any modern iPhone or Android in the browser they already have.

    Two ways to collect

Every review is tied to a source, so you always know where it came from. There are two kinds of review link, and each opens the same review page:

    • Per-employee QR code. The review page shows the crew member's name and role, and the review is credited to them. This is what powers your team leaderboard and per-employee stats.
    • Company QR code and review link. One code for the whole business, showing your company name and logo. Ideal for invoices, email signatures, your website, and vehicle wraps.

Both links open the same public review page. See QR codes for how to create, print, and manage each type.

    What the customer sees

    1. Who they are reviewing. The page opens with the crew member (or your company) at the top and a friendly prompt: "How was your experience?"
    2. Star rating. They tap 1 to 5 stars. Each star has a label, from "Terrible" up to "Outstanding".
    3. Video or text. Video is selected by default. They can record right in the browser or upload a clip, or switch to a written review instead (up to 1,000 characters). A video review can also carry an optional short comment.
    4. Their details. Name and email are required, phone is optional. This is what lets you follow up and reply.
    5. Submit. They see a thank-you screen. If they rated you highly, they may also see a nudge to post on Google and, when you have it turned on, an offer to share a discount with a few neighbors.

    Recording or uploading a video

Video is what sets SyncReviews apart: a real customer on camera is far more convincing than text. When they choose to record, an in-browser recorder opens with:

    • A 3, 2, 1 countdown before recording starts.
    • Pause and resume, stop, and a live timer.
    • Front or back camera switching on phones, and camera selection on desktop.
    • Mute control and quality options (up to 1080p).

Every clip is capped at 60 seconds so it stays short and punchy. Customers can also upload an existing video instead of recording, and anything longer than 60 seconds is rejected before it uploads. The recorder saves in a broadly compatible format so the clip plays back cleanly across phones and browsers.

    What gets captured

    FieldRequiredNotes
Star ratingYes1 to 5 stars, with a label for each
    Review typeYesVideo (default) or text
Written reviewFor text reviewsUp to 1,000 characters
VideoFor video reviewsRecorded or uploaded, max 60 seconds
Video commentNoOptional short note alongside a video

Customer emailYesUsed for follow-up and duplicate checks
    Customer phoneNoOptional

Each review also records who it was for (the crew member or your company) so it flows into the right place: the team leaderboard for employee QR codes, and your company totals for the company link. The QR scan itself is logged too, which feeds your scan analytics.

Reviews are never shown on your widget or public profile until you approve them. New submissions land in your dashboard as pending. See Moderation and approval.

    Built-in quality and anti-abuse

SyncReviews protects the integrity of your reviews automatically:

    • The same customer email cannot submit another review for the same crew member or company within 24 hours.
    • Submissions are rate-limited to stop rapid spam bursts.
    • Name, email, phone, and review text are cleaned on the way in to strip unsafe content.

Collection is paused, and the customer sees a clear message, when:

    • The crew member has been set to inactive.
    • The QR code has been deactivated or has expired.
    • The QR code has hit its scan limit, if one is set.
    • The business subscription or trial has lapsed.

    After a great review

A five-star moment is a chance to do more than collect one review. When a customer rates you 4 stars or higher and leaves an email, the thank-you screen can:

    • Nudge them to post on Google, so your happiest customers also boost your public Google rating.
    • Invite a referral, if you have referrals turned on. They can text a one-time discount to up to five neighbors, and each person gets their own unique code.

If the review came from one of your email review requests, that request is automatically marked as completed. And on an employee link, you can set a redirect so the customer is sent to a page of your choice a few seconds after they finish.
